Firefox Menu Text Too Small? Separate It From Webpage Zoom

By ON Lab · Sources checked November 6, 2026

If Firefox’s menus or toolbar text are too small, first separate browser controls from the webpage. Mozilla’s toolbar guide points to system font size for toolbar text. Firefox’s page zoom controls enlarge web content instead. The Windows 11 check below changes a system setting, so other applications may also be affected.

Identify what you want to enlarge

If the toolbar disappears rather than looking too small, use our Firefox full screen check instead.

Try a reversible Windows 11 text size change

  1. Note your current system text size and keep a Firefox menu open long enough to identify the text you want to compare.
  2. Open Start → Settings → Accessibility → Text size, the path Microsoft documents.
  3. Adjust the Text size slider by a small amount. Complete any Apply control shown by your Windows version before judging the result.
  4. Return to Firefox and reopen the same menu. Check that its text is easier to read and that labels and controls remain usable.

This is a source-based check, not a guarantee that every Firefox label follows the setting. If the particular text does not change, stop rather than repeatedly increasing the system value. Record your Windows and Firefox versions and which label remained small.

Keep text size separate from display scaling

Microsoft distinguishes text size from Display → Scale, which makes more of the interface larger, including images and apps. Avoid changing both at once: otherwise it is harder to tell which setting helped. This guide does not require installing an extension or changing advanced Firefox preferences.

Check the result and restore the earlier value if needed

Reopen the same Firefox menu and inspect it after moving back to a normal webpage. Also check another application because the setting applies beyond Firefox. If the change is uncomfortable or clips controls, return to Windows Text size and restore the value you recorded. A slider movement alone does not prove that the target text changed.

For webpage content, follow Mozilla’s linked zoom guide with its operating-system selector. Our Chrome page zoom guide applies to Chrome, not Firefox’s menus.

Scope: desktop Firefox; the concrete system path is for Windows 11. macOS and Linux system text controls are outside this procedure. Official sources checked November 7, 2026 UTC. We have not reproduced the effect on your device, and this is not a universal fix for every Firefox Home or toolbar element.
