Allow a Trusted Receipt Pop-up in Desktop Firefox

By ON Lab · Sources checked November 6, 2026

If a receipt button opens nothing, first look for Firefox’s blocked-window icon in the address bar or an information bar. A site exception may help when Firefox actually blocked that window. Keep general blocking enabled and check the website address before granting an exception.

Identify the missing step before changing a setting

Start from an existing order confirmation or purchase-history page. Our suggested check is to note what you selected, whether a blocked-window indicator appeared, and whether the receipt is already available as a download or an open tab. Do not place the order or submit payment again to recover a receipt.

A Mozilla support reader reported a blocked receipt window on June 13, 2021. That is a historical example of this task, not evidence of a current outage or a promise that every missing receipt has the same cause.

Match the control shown in your Firefox

Mozilla documents an address-bar icon and an information-bar menu for blocked windows. Open the available control and inspect the site-specific allow choice or the offered blocked-window address. Labels may mention pop-ups alone or pop-ups and third-party redirects.

For the settings route, open Firefox Settings. Look under Privacy & Security or Permissions and data, then find the pop-up control in Permissions. Keep its blocking checkbox selected. Open Exceptions… or Manage exceptions, enter the trusted website address, choose Allow, then Save Changes.

On versions with combined controls, the exception also permits third-party redirects for that site. Treat it as that broader permission, rather than a pop-up-only grant. If the address is unfamiliar, do not add it just because a page tells you to.

Check the receipt without repeating the purchase

Return to the completed order’s receipt or print-receipt control. Our editorial acceptance check is that the expected receipt opens and its order details match the completed purchase. An exception appearing in Settings only confirms the permission change; it does not confirm receipt recovery.

If nothing opens and no blocked-window signal appears, stop treating the blocker as the confirmed cause. Use the merchant’s existing order-history or support route to request the receipt. Record the browser version, visible error and the action that failed, without sharing passwords or payment-card details. Avoid repeated payment submissions.

Remove the exception when you finish

Reopen the same exceptions list, select only the website you added, choose Remove Website and Save Changes. Reopen the list to verify that entry is gone and the general blocking control remains enabled.

Do not use Remove All Websites for this cleanup: other saved exceptions may serve unrelated tasks. Our suggested record is the site address, permission granted, receipt outcome and removal outcome. This makes a future failure easier to describe without leaving a broader permission indefinitely.

If the receipt opens but will not print

The window-opening step is then complete. For an actual PDF, continue with PDF printing checks. Browser notification permissions are a separate task; this guide does not change notification senders, tracking protection or every website’s pop-up permission.
