Install a Webpage as a Desktop Chrome App and Check Its Launch

Google’s desktop instructions are to open the website in Chrome and choose More → Cast, save, and share → Install page as app…, then follow the on-screen instructions. Some websites also show an installation icon in the address bar.
Start with the intended website
Check the website address and title before installing. The task here is to create a launchable web app for that website. It is different from exporting a bookmark collection or saving an HTML file for offline reading.
Read the installation prompt before confirming it. If the documented control is absent or installation fails, this guide has not established a workaround for your browser or device. Record the visible menu and the site address rather than installing an unrelated browser extension.
Find the installed entry
Google documents chrome://apps as the place to manage Chrome web apps. On Windows, Mac and Linux, you can right-click an app there, select Create shortcut, choose where to create it, and select Create.
Our suggested acceptance check is to find the expected app entry, launch it, and compare its destination and title with the website you chose. A shortcut’s presence alone does not show that it opens the intended website.
Check the task you need inside it
For example, if you installed a calendar website to open it from a shortcut, check that the intended calendar page opens. Installing the app does not by itself establish that you have access to an account or that a particular calendar is shared with you.
Google warns that web apps may not work completely offline. If your requirement is access without a connection, use the website’s own offline documentation and verify the required task separately. Do not assume installation downloaded every page or its underlying data.
Know the removal choice
Google documents uninstalling from an open web app’s menu: choose Uninstall [app name], then Remove. The optional Also delete data from Chrome choice deletes the app’s data. Read that choice before selecting it; removing a launcher and deleting stored data are different intentions.
Scope: Chrome’s documented web-app installation and management. No native desktop installer repair, universal offline capability, or bypass of managed-device restrictions is claimed.
