ERR_CACHE_MISS: What to Check Before Resubmitting a Form
By ON Lab · Sources checked November 6, 2026
ERR_CACHE_MISS can accompany a request to resubmit form information. If the form placed an order, sent a message or performed another consequential action, first check whether that action already completed. Repeating it is a separate decision from diagnosing the browser message.
What the message tells you
Nexthink describes the Confirm Form Resubmission message as a request for previously submitted data. Its documentation also notes that recurring incidents can involve browser configuration, cache, extensions or network conditions. The error text alone does not identify which of those applies.
Choose the next step by what the form did
| Earlier action | Check before repeating it |
|---|---|
| Order or booking | Look for an existing confirmation in the service’s account history or contact its support. |
| Message or application | Check the service’s submitted or sent-items view, if available. |
| A harmless search or filter | Return through the site’s normal navigation and enter the search again if needed. |
For example, an error after returning to a booking page does not tell you whether a reservation exists. A confirmation in the service is stronger evidence of the booking state than the browser error. This is a decision example, not a claim that every resubmission creates duplicates.
Record a repeatable sequence
Note the page, the action immediately before the message, and whether you used Back, Reload or a link. Record the browser version and whether the problem occurs in one application or several. Leave form contents and private account details out of public reports.
Nexthink’s scoping guidance similarly distinguishes affected applications, browser versions, pages and time periods. A useful report says what you did and what appeared next, rather than presenting “cache corruption” as a diagnosis you have not established.
When to ask the site owner
If you cannot determine whether the action completed, use the site’s official support channel before resubmitting. Include the time and any reference number. If the same sequence repeatedly fails, give the owner that sequence so they can investigate it without guessing.
Method: documentation-based explanation and editorial examples. No live payment or production form was submitted to test this guide. We do not recommend clearing all browser data as an automatic first response.
